About Janani

Hi, I'm Janani! I'm currently doing my Master's in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Manchester, and before that, I studied Artificial Intelligence and Data Science at university, graduating with a First Class degree. I've always loved subjects like Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Computer Science, back in school I scored 94% in Maths, 95% in Physics, 94% in Chemistry and 94% in Computer Science, so I know exactly what it takes to really understand these subjects, not just memorise them for a test.

I want to teach because I still remember what it felt like to be stuck on something and not understand why, and I also remember exactly how good it felt the moment it finally clicked. That feeling is honestly one of my favourite things in the world, and now I get to help create it for other people. I've spent years tutoring students of different ages, some who just wanted a bit of extra push to go further, and others who felt like they were falling behind and needed someone patient to slow things down and explain it differently. I've also taught in a real classroom, working with kids from all kinds of backgrounds, so I know that everyone learns differently, and that's completely okay.

My lessons are never about making you feel silly for not knowing something. If one explanation doesn't make sense, we'll just try another way until it does. I like to keep things clear, step by step, and honestly, a little fun where I can. I'll check in with you regularly to make sure things are actually making sense, not just moving on because we've run out of time.

If you're someone who wants to build real confidence in Maths, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science, whether you're aiming to get ahead or just want things to finally make sense, I'd genuinely love to help you get there. Learning something new can feel hard at first, but I promise, with the right support, "I can't do this" can turn into "I've actually got this."

Let's make it happen together!

My approach to tutoring:

My teaching style is built around patience and small, manageable steps. Rather than rushing through a topic, I like to first understand exactly where a student's confusion is coming from, and then break the concept down into simple parts that build on each other. I always encourage students to try reasoning through a problem themselves before I step in, because I have found that students remember things far better when they arrive at the answer through their own thinking rather than being told it directly.

I also like to keep lessons interactive. I use plenty of real examples and practice questions, and I regularly check understanding through short questions rather than waiting until the end of a topic to find out if something did not land. If a student is struggling, I slow down and try a different explanation or a different example, since I know not every student learns the same way. For younger or less confident students, I put a lot of focus on encouragement and celebrating small wins, since building confidence is often just as important as the subject content itself.

I also believe in structure. I set small assignments between sessions where useful, and I use short tests or recap questions to track a student's progress properly, so both the student and I can see clear improvement over time rather than just a vague sense of getting better.

Typical lesson length:

My lessons typically run for 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the age of the student and the subject. For younger children, I tend to keep sessions a little shorter and more focused, since attention spans are shorter, while older students working towards exams often benefit from a full hour to properly work through problems and past questions.

My qualifications and experience:

I am currently completing an MSc in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Manchester, and I hold a First Class degree in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. In my own schooling, I scored 94% in Mathematics, 95% in Physics, 94% in Chemistry and 94% in Computer Science, so I have a strong personal foundation in these subjects.

On the teaching side, I have provided one to one home tuition to students from Class 1 to Class 12, supported slower learners in a school setting to help them keep pace with their classmates, and prepared individual assignments and tests to track student progress. I also taught for a week at a government school as part of an NSS volunteering programme, which gave me experience working with students from a wide range of backgrounds and abilities.

Who my lessons are for:
I mainly teach Maths, Science, English and Computer Science, from primary level through to GCSE, and I am also comfortable supporting general academic development for younger children, such as reading and foundational learning skills. I enjoy working with a wide age range, from young children who need encouragement and a gentle pace, to older students who need focused, exam style preparation.
