About Ben

Hi, I'm Ben, a second-year MPhys Physics with Astrophysics student at the University of Bath. I have always enjoyed Maths and Physics, particularly the problem-solving side of the subjects, and I enjoy helping other students develop the same confidence.

I achieved A* in Maths, A in Further Maths and A in Physics at A-level, and I now study these subjects at university alongside Astrophysics. I have also gained experience tutoring students through MyTutor.

As a tutor, I try to create a relaxed and friendly environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I remember how frustrating it can be when a topic simply doesn't make sense, so I focus on explaining things in a way that makes them easier to understand rather than just giving students the answer.

Whether you're looking to improve your understanding, prepare for exams or build confidence in a subject, I'll tailor lessons to what you need and work at a pace that suits you.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student's current level, goals and areas they find difficult. I aim to make difficult topics easier to understand by breaking them down clearly, then building confidence through worked examples and exam-style questions.

For GCSE and A-level Maths and Physics, I can help with:
• Understanding difficult topics and filling gaps in knowledge
• Working through problems step-by-step
• Exam technique and applying knowledge to unfamiliar questions
• Practising past-paper and exam-style questions
• Preparing for upcoming tests and exams
• Building confidence and developing independent problem-solving skills

I am currently studying MPhys Physics with Astrophysics at the University of Bath, so I have recent experience of the subjects and the transition from school to university-level study. I also have experience tutoring students through MyTutor.

Lessons can be adapted depending on what the student needs. For example, we can focus on a particular topic, work through a set of questions, prepare for an upcoming exam, or build a longer-term plan around the student's weaker areas.

I offer online lessons and am also happy to discuss in-person tuition where practical.
