science classes should be taught with the understanding that the students are functioning as scientists. The hard part of this is getting them to understand that nothing is learned in the absence of making mistakes. Scientists make a lot of mistakes on their way to creating new knowledge. Find a way of celebrating mistakes that come from taking chances on advancing ideas that will often be wrong.Don't praise students for being smart, but celebrating effort and being part of learners can be productive and authentic.
It's also good to now and then bring in something that you're excited about physics. It's even better if you can relate it to the stuff in the curriculum, but that's not always necessary.
