About Isobel

I am passionate about languages and I want to share my passion with others. Having lived in France for a year, I have a love for the country and culture. I love teaching, it brings me so much joy and all of my students are so unique on a different journey which I take pride in being part of.

About the lesson

I am very patient and empathetic with all children attempting to learn a language as I have first-hand experience being in that overwhelming and vulnerable position where you are trying to learn something new. I try to make things as exciting as possible as I know the key is engagement and try to tailor my classes to the student's interests as much as possible. I also adapt my classes to their preferred learning methods, which I also pick up on as classes progress. I try to include at least three interactive activities per session and focus on recall from previous classes as this is optimal for information entering long-term memory. I also ensure that both listening and speaking exercises are included in every class as these skills are the ones students feel most uncomfortable with. I always create PowerPoints using colours and images to explain new concepts in a clear way as I believe this helps break down complex topics into a more digestible way of understanding. Being a visual learner myself, I understand the importance of making presentations as clear as possible and I always did well in my university assignments where I had to do so.
