As a tutor, I would work to help middle school students understand the lesson they are working on. I would ask to see what they did in the lesson with their teacher at school first, and then I would try to help them understand using a similar approach to their teacher's.
If I were teaching a lesson to a student for the first time, I would use methods similar to those I have used in my own classroom and seen students succeed with.
