About Sophia
I am a microbiology student at Rutgers University. The natural world and the processes that run it have always appealed to me. This curiosity has fueled my education and my passion for teaching others. I am especially interested in mycological growth and adaptation, or in other words, fungi!

Your teaching method and techniques: First, we cover the basics of the topic and THEN we dive into the nuances and the specifics of the information. I tend to lean towards student centered, constructive approaches. In my sessions, we use various methods to teach students how to study. Such as, flash-cards, idea mapping, spaced repetition, mnemonic devices, etc.
A typical lesson plan: This includes Identifying learning objectives. Planning specific learning activities. Assessing the student understanding. Sequencing the tutoring session in an engaging and meaningful manner and finally, creating a realistic timeline.
What sets you apart as a tutor: I am always willing to be patient with students, everyone learns at their own pace. I like to emphasize self reliance and confidence in the information.
My lessons are for students in chemistry and biology courses between the grades of 4 - 12.
