About Leila

Hey, I’m Leila! I’m a certified teacher with years of experience helping students from elementary to high school succeed in science, math, and English. I also work with English Language Learners and students who feel stressed or left behind in class. My sessions are all about understanding, not pressure. I explain things clearly, help you build confidence, and make sure you feel safe asking questions—even the ones you’re scared to ask in school. If you want a tutor who listens, gets to the point, and actually helps you get it, I’ve got you. Let’s learn in a way that works for you.

Teaching Method & Techniques

I lead with connection because learning doesn’t happen unless students feel safe. My approach is rooted in:

*Relationship-building: I take time to understand each student’s world, interests, and stress points.

*Pressure-free learning: I strip away the fear of being wrong, so students can engage without shame or anxiety.

*Scaffolded instruction: I break down complex ideas into manageable chunks and build from there.

*Culturally responsive teaching: I work with ELLs and diverse learners using visuals, real-world connections, and language-sensitive strategies.

For younger students, I use hands-on activities, storytelling, and guided exploration. For teens, I blend discussion, structured support, and skill-focused mini-lessons tailored to what actually matters in their academic lives.

Typical Lesson Plan

Each lesson adapts to the student’s pace but usually follows this rhythm:

*Check-in (5 min): How are you feeling? What’s been tough lately? We clear emotional roadblocks first.

*Warm-Up (5–10 min): A quick, low-stakes activity to ease in and review past concepts.

*Focus Skill or Concept (15–20 min): Direct instruction or guided exploration, with room for dialogue and pause.

*Practice (15–20 min): Students apply the concept with coaching—not correction, just redirection.

*Wrap-Up & Reflect (5 min): We name what they learned, what felt good, and what still feels tricky.

For ELLs, I integrate vocabulary, sentence stems, and frequent checks for understanding throughout.

What Sets Me Apart

I don’t just teach subjects, I teach humans.

My classroom is a judgment-free zone where mistakes are part of the process.

I understand how to speak kids’ language, especially those who feel lost in traditional settings.

I have a strong foundation in educational psychology, so I know how to meet students where they are emotionally, academically, and socially.

Who My Lessons Are For

*Elementary & Middle School: Science (all levels), reading support, and foundational math.

*High School: Math (up to Algebra 2), English (including essay writing, literature analysis, and test prep).

*English Language Learners (ELLs): I provide tailored language scaffolding and cultural empathy.

Students who “hate school” or struggle with anxiety/performance pressure: These are my people.
