About Ana
I'm a writer, editor, and educator in San Francisco, California. I work at a non-profit as a writing coach, where I help students find their voice through the power of creative writing.
I am deeply passionate about education, literature, culture, art, and, lately, video games. I have taught at middle and high school (English and History), Intro to Art History and Aesthetics (Graduate), and I have been a private tutor for the past six years.

My teaching philosophy is centered around the student. Whether you are a grad student trying to complete your thesis or a high school student working on your college essay, my classroom is a safe space for individuals of all backgrounds. I use a combination of collaborative, inquiry-based models and culturally relevant content and methodologies. All my lessons are concept-based and are driven by you, the learner!
Every lesson is tailored to the learner. Sessions typically last 60 min but can be extended should you need to. I believe in co-creating learning outcomes with the students. We will set goals and learning preferences and review them at the end of each lesson.
These lessons are designed for any student looking for assistance in the following areas:
- Undergrad/Graduate Literature, Composition and Rhetoric
- Creative writing, Fiction, Non-Fiction (Middle school, high school, Undergrad, and Graduate)
- ESL/ELA (Ages 12 and up)
- Academic Writing (ages 12 and up)
- Editing (developmental, line, copy, and proofreading - typically for undergrad/grad students)

My hourly rate begins at $40/hr; however, if you are struggling financially, drop me a line, and we can work out a discount.
I offer subsidized rates for individuals from the LGBTQ+ community, first-generation students, and students from lower-income and marginalized communities.
The fees include a personalized lesson plan, feedback, and an optional self-directed learning packet. DM me for details!
