About Jonny
Hey there!
Here's a couple things about me:
-EDUCATION-
Bachelor's Degree in English with a teaching emphasis and a history minor from USU
MFA in creative writing from Lindenwood University
-CAREER-
I have taught both high school and junior high ELA classes, where interactive learning with discussions and lots of laughs made teaching a lot of fun!
-WRITING-
I'm the author of several essays and poems; some of my work has been published in Minerva Rising’s The Keeping Room, Club Plum, and Anti-Heroin Chic. I enjoy writing all genres, and I find myself drawn to the raw and real stories of love and hardship, particularly those that speak to the feminine experience. As an educator, I believe in the passion of writing as a tool for connection and healing.
I also co-host a writing and literary podcast called "Just the Scraps," which you can find on Spotify.

I will always be willing to tailor your interests/needs into the lesson, so lesson plans will vary. However, one can expect a lot of writing prompts, workshopping, and "what if" questions to provoke thought on how to improve the piece either as a whole or simply with line edits.
My lessons are really for anyone over the age of 13 that is interested in gaining better understanding of how to use written communication to convey themselves creatively or professionally with confidence.
I offer two services: Meeting online via webcam for discussion/feedback on your work, or to help you brainstorm/outline/etc. Or, if you'd rather, you can send me your work and I will send you feedback so it is all asynchronous.
