About Saraavanabirasa

I have just completed an MEng at Imperial College London reading Electrical & Electronic Engineering with Management achieving a 2:1. Stimulating the next generation to become lifelong learners is something I see as a fulfilling challenge. I have a real passion to teach Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics. I endeavour to instil this passion in my students, helping them meet the required objectives. Having achieved 8A*s and 3As at a Comprehensive school in Bromley, I have learnt to become very independent which involved self-learning. In addition, I successfully transferred to one of the best grammar schools in the UK achieving 4 A-levels in Mathematics (A*), Further Mathematics (A*), Physics(A) and Chemistry(A) as well as an AS Level in Computing. I currently live in Lewisham. I am happy to travel across London within a 3 mile radius. Anything outside I am happy to negotiate and discuss travel costs. I have had numerous tutoring experiences since Sixth form, which started off by teaching a group of Year 9 students in Mathematics. These have ranged from helping students to develop a real passion for the subject, to those who required extra support and early preparation for public examinations such as GCSEs and A-Levels. I have had numerous hours of experience in preparing students for the new specifications such as 9-1 and the new A-levels. Being a senior martial-arts instructor resulting from 10 years of rigorous karate training has helped me gain self-discipline and tons of patience. I am sure I will be able to gel with various types of student personalities and train them in the required subjects with utmost care and concern for meeting the key learning objectives. My approach to tutoring is that I tailor my tutoring sessions to the needs of the student. I will adapt my style depending on the ability and needs of the student. I will also conduct pre-exam revision sessions for all examinations and regular monitoring of student’s progress including mock exams at the student’s discretion.
