About Hira
Hi, I’m Hira, and I’m a current medical student with a passion for science as well as a range of external interests including reading, baking, sports and travelling! I view education not as a routine punctuated with exams, but as a tool to unlock your potential to countless career pathways, exploring unique interests, expanding creativity as well and shaping you as a confident, capable individual. And the key to that is finding which study techniques work best, which I can assist you with. Having previously carried out teaching experiences to a class of students as well as one-on-one tutoring, I can confidently provide the encouragement, guidance, and tailored support to help you achieve your dreams.

My teaching style revolves around an active recall learning model, utilising resources such as flashcards and mind maps, which ensures deeper processing and memorising compared to passive methods due to direct engagement with the content. Active studying techniques allow the student to recall information themselves which is key for targeting weak areas and creating long-term memories to help them excel. I also like to focus on practising exam questions, as this is essential for gaining top marks. It not only educates students on how to word and structure answers, but also encourages them to apply their previously learnt knowledge, further strengthening their memory of the content. Ultimately, however, I believe that ways of studying should be tailored to each unique student and their strengths and weaknesses, as studying techniques are not universal and different things work for different people. For this reason, I am more than happy to spend a few sessions guiding students to discover their optimal processes by exploring the content through a variety of methods such as blurting, teaching, quizzes and problem-based learning
