About Olayemi
I am a medical student with an excellent academic record who is passionate about helping other students improve academically and all-round. I specialise in maths tutoring from primary to AS level (pure) maths and have gained valuable experience in this area over the years. My experience with tutoring dates back to my secondary school years, when I wrote my GCSE maths paper a year early in year 10 (as opposed to 11) and achieved an A* grade. Due to the free time I now had during maths lessons in year 11, I was appointed by teachers to assist fellow students with their school work (both in my year and in years below). This was a great opportunity to connect with students from different age groups and explore different students’ learning styles. I was able to work on my communication and teaching skills, which I have carried along with me over the years. I was further able to build on these tutoring skills during my A levels, when granted the opportunity to volunteer for tutoring at a secondary school. Twice a week, myself and some colleagues went to Friern Barnet school to speak with and tutor year 11 students preparing for their maths GCSEs. This was a valuable teaching experience that allowed me to further explore different teaching styles - Teaching easily became a great passion of mine, and from time to time, I also helped other students in my class better understand various mathematical concepts. With all of the knowledge gained during my years of experience, I intend to adapt these into my lessons and further build on these skills through continuous tutoring.

The aim of my lessons will be to improve student efficiency in a relaxed atmosphere where students are willing to be vulnerable about their weaknesses; that way they can improve by focusing on key aspects. My approach will be highly exam focused, training students to ace their exams through retaining key information, correct application and efficient time management. Having done papers from various exam boards myself, I am well familiar with the different expectations from AQA, Edexcel & CIE curricula and am keen to adapt my teaching style according to the needs of each student in relation to their respective exam boards. I will apply a holistic method of teaching; focusing on each individual student’s strengths & weaknesses, also taking into account their preferred learning styles. I really look forward to meeting and engaging with you all!
