About Shiron

With more than six years of teaching experience, as a private tutor, teaching assistant and mentor, I have been working with students for 11+ entrance examinations, KS2 SATS and A-Level Sciences and Maths.

I will be starting on the BM4 graduate entry medicine programme at the University of Southampton in September 2019, having graduated with 2:1 BSc Medical Sciences (Hons) from the University of Exeter. I attended the City of London School for Boys, on an academic scholarship from HSBC, and graduated with A-Levels in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths and self-taught AS-Level Spanish. I have a very sound scientific background from both my undergraduate degree and having worked as a research scientist at a world-leading research lab.

About the lesson

I am driven by the challenge of transforming students from "dreading" subjects to becoming confident students that actively participate in classes. I always strive to communicate openly and personally with students, as this allows us to firstly uncover their "pain points" and areas of strength. We can then work together to better understand difficult topics whilst also ensuring that we maintain performance in stronger areas. Through our lessons, I want to help students feel more confident with their studies and recognise their own potential and abilities. I believe it is critical to ensure that my students have a clear grasp of the foundations of both Maths and the Sciences, regardless of the stage of education. I enjoy the challenge of having to develop and deliver content tailored to the individual needs of students using a range of resources and techniques. With regular checkpoints, we can assess our performance and I always value feedback from both pupil and parents.
