About Riyaan

Hi, I'm Riyaan!
I am a current medical student who is enthusiastic about learning, problem-solving, and helping others reach their full academic potential. Having recently navigated the intense UK exam system myself, I know exactly what it takes to succeed, but I also remember exactly how overwhelming the pressure can feel.

My perspective of learning completely changed thanks to a teacher whose ability was to take the most confusing topics and break them down into simple steps and facts until everything actually clicked. I remember thinking that all teaching should be like that. It made me realise that struggling with a subject usually isn't a problem with the student's ability, it's just a problem with how it's being explained. I chose to get into tutoring to be that kind of teacher for my own students.

For me, the best part of tutoring is seeing the moment when a complex topic finally clicks, changing a student's mindset from "I can't do this" to "I completely understand it." No matter the subject or the level, I aim to provide a supportive environment where students feel motivated to challenge themselves and excel.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is simple but strays completely away from passive reading, like blindly memorising mark schemes or just reading textbooks. To truly succeed, students need to understand the core concepts and know how to apply them under pressure. I rely on scientifically proven revision methods, breaking down complex topics and building exam technique and confidence.

Typical Lesson Length: 60 minutes (90-minute sessions are available upon request for GCSE and A-level students).

What a typical session may look like:
Quick active recall warm up on a previous topic
Focus on main topic(s) of the session
Application of knowledge (e.g. to exam practice questions

(Please note: This structure is fully adaptive and is regularly adjusted to suit the student's unique needs and learning style).

I offer tailored tuition to the following groups:
Primary: 11+ Entrance Exam Preparation
Key Stage 3 & GCSE: Maths, Chemistry, and Biology
A-Level: Maths, Chemistry, and Biology

Qualifications and Experience:

Academic Record: Achieved straight 9s in GCSE Maths & Sciences (all 9-7s overall) and A*AA at A-level (Maths, Chemistry, Biology)

11+ Experience: Hands-on experience tutoring younger student specifically for the 11+ entrance exams.

Mentorship Background: Experienced in mentoring a student through their academic journey, designing structured, long-term revision timelines, and helping them manage intensive preparation schedules.
