About Josh

I have tutored privately with Kumon and First Class Learning for over two years, in both Maths and English up to GCSE level. Working in these different private tuition centres means I know the importance of creating a supportive study environment for all my students, as I have seen that this promotes a visible increase in my students’ confidence and success. I have tutored students from a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities and therefore dynamically adapt my teaching style for each pupil. I strongly believe in a personalised student-centred approach when tutoring and this means I have seen a marked improvement in the confidence of my students over the past two years. I believe that I can get my students to be as passionate about Maths, English and science as I am, and their resulting enthusiasm will make exam preparation a breeze. For the past four years I have been preparing students for 11+ exams involving the Consortium schools, Highgate, Belmont, Merchant Taylors, amongst others and would be keen to discuss your aims for your child. About the lesson

Hi! My name is Joshua and I am a Medical student at university, also having already graduated with a BSc in Medical Physiology. I can give lessons to anyone seeking tuition in KS1, KS2, and 11+ preparation. - Key Stage 1, aged between 5 to 7 (Year 1 – 2) - Key Stage 2, aged between 7 to 11 (Year 3 – 6) Lessons with me are student-centred and focus on making sure my students fully understand the underlying theories – I believe that using examples to reinforce key concepts is a very effective learning strategy and I have seen first-hand how integral this approach is in improving students’ performance. By covering material relevant to the exam syllabus, I will teach you how to structure exam answers effectively, incorporating practice examples into your revision preparation. I can also help with English, Maths and other school homework. In addition to my primary and secondary school tutoring, I can give tuition for the 11+ exam. With such fierce competition for places at grammar schools, I believe that thorough preparation for the 11+ exam is crucial. I myself took the 11+ exam and I can help with all the sections (English, Maths, verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning)! My tutoring plans are tailored to your child’s exam board (GL Assessment or CEM). I can also help with peer tutoring or mentoring from home and homework support for school students. I am also happy to help with essay writing and University entry papers for medical school preparation.
