About Henrietta

I am a registered medical scientist in the Republic of Ireland with experience working in pathology laboratories, and I am currently in my first year of medical school at Ulster University. Biological and biomedical sciences have been my passion since the very beginning of my first degree. I find the field incredibly rich, filled with fascinating concepts that explain how life functions at every level. While the material can sometimes feel challenging and overwhelming, I believe there is always a way to approach it that makes sense and builds confidence.

With my lessons, you will begin to appreciate just how exciting biological and biomedical sciences can be. I am a compassionate, patient, and empathetic tutor who understands that every student learns at their own pace and in their own way. That is why each lesson is carefully tailored to the individual, using evidence-based active recall techniques to strengthen understanding, improve memory, and encourage scientific thinking. I believe in making learning enjoyable and meaningful for the student. Rather than expecting regurgitated information, I aim to teach in a way that encourages students to think like scientists. For example, if we are studying an organ system, I want to provide enough understanding to spark follow-up questions such as, “What would happen if this mechanism stopped working?” or “How do drugs influence the physiology of this system?”

I believe that one of the most effective ways to learn is through active engagement with the material, by asking questions, predicting outcomes, and applying knowledge to real-world scenarios. This approach ensures that students are not simply memorizing facts, but are practicing how to think critically, solve problems, and make meaningful connections, skills that are essential in both science and medicine. By combining case studies, active recall techniques, and guided questioning, I help students develop not only a strong knowledge base, but also the confidence to apply it with clarity and independence. My goal is to cultivate curiosity and resilience, so that learning becomes not a chore, but a process of discovery.

About the lesson

I specialise in Leaving Cert biology.

Each lesson is 1 hour in duration.

My approach to tutoring is unique. I use active recall methods to make learning both engaging and effective. I relate the topics to real life cases to ensure students can understand the science rather than just memorising the information.

Exam paper questions will be covered throughly.
