About Hannah

Hello, my name is Hannah and I am a Mechanical Engineering Student at the University of British Columbia. (Note: I am currently on Co-op in Saskatoon). I have four years of private tutoring experience in math, biology, chemistry, and physics for grades 9-12, including Advanced Functions and Calculus and Vectors under the Ontario Curriculum. I was also in the international baccalaureate program in high school, so I am very familiar with that curriculum too. To share a little about myself; my favorite subjects in school were math and chemistry. I have loved math all my life, and I really fell in love with chemistry in grade 11. I love to run, read, cook, and try new things. I love a nice long walk with my family or friends, or just a day out in the sun. Some long-term goals of mine would be to travel, take a big road trip across Canada, and build/design my own house.

About the lesson

A little about my tutoring style; I am very flexible in the way I tutor. My goal is to adapt to what works best for the student. This means that I can go through homework questions, or if needed, I can also create a lesson/notes ahead of time for the student to work with. Any work done through the sessions will be saved digitally and the student will be sent a copy of everything covered in the session.

My style of tutoring can also be very reflective of the way I learn. I'm the type of person who needs to understand the big picture in order to understand what is being taught. In the earlier years of high school, the curriculum can be over simplified (broken down too much), and for some people that works, which is great. However, I always believed in the importance of showing students the whole picture and allowing them to connect the dots. This is a method that I have found very useful with many students.
