About Yigal
I am a sophomore Mechanical Engineering student at San Diego State University with over five years of tutoring experience. I currently hold a 3.99 college GPA, graduated high school with a 4.3 GPA, and am now completing advanced engineering coursework.
I have experience tutoring students in calculus, algebra, trigonometry, chemistry, physics, biology, reading, and English. One of my biggest strengths as a tutor is working with students who feel like they are missing the foundation of a subject. I am patient and will break down a difficult concept as far as necessary before building it back up step by step.
I know not every student learns the same way, so I adjust my explanations until the material genuinely makes sense to the student. My goal isn't just to help someone get through one homework assignment or test, but to help them understand the material, build confidence, and develop problem-solving skills they can use on their own.

I have a lot of experience helping students understand challenging material and feel more confident in school. As a Mechanical Engineering student, I work with math and science regularly, and I also have experience tutoring English and general academic skills. I focus on figuring out exactly where a student is getting stuck, then breaking the topic down into clear, manageable steps.
My lessons are personalized to each student rather than following the same approach for everyone. I can help with homework, test preparation, reviewing class material, or learning a topic from the beginning. I like to explain not only how to solve a problem, but why each step works so students can become more independent and confident over time.
I am patient, encouraging, and comfortable working with different learning styles. My goal is to create a relaxed environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and can work through difficult concepts without feeling rushed or judged. My lessons are especially suited for middle school, high school, and introductory college-level students.
