My name is Sid, and I am studying Joint Mathematics and Computing at Imperial College London after attending St Paul’s School. As Director of 11+ at Mayfair Scholars and co-founder of Eleven Plus Vocab, I help children navigate entrance exams and interviews for London’s top independent schools. My own background includes 11 Grade 9s at GCSE, A-Level marks of three A*s and an A, and top national finishes in Mathematics and AI Olympiads.

Having personally secured 11+ offers from St Paul’s, Westminster, City of London School, and Queen Elizabeth’s School (Barnet), I know firsthand what entrance panels are searching for. At ten years old, the biggest hurdle isn't just knowing basic maths or English rules, it's learning how to tackle novel problems which require applications of these rules under pressure without panicking. Rote memorisation can only get a child so far; top private and grammar schools test whether a student can think flexibly when presented with something they've never seen before.

In my sessions, I swap dry drill work for interactive problem-solving. For example, when a student freezes on complex pattern-matching or multi-step logic puzzles, we don't just jump to the answer or memorise a trick. We break the question down into bite-sized clues until the child spots the pattern themselves. Watching a student move from "I can't do this" to proudly explaining the solution back to me is the most rewarding part of teaching.

Outside of tutoring, I previously worked at and co-founded 11+ Vocab (elevenplusvocab.com), a specialist 11+ preparation company that creates print resources, practice materials, and mobile learning apps for families and tuition centres worldwide. Alongside this, I am actively involved in machine learning research, having recently co-authored a paper accepted at NeurIPS (Neural Information Processing Systems), widely recognised as one of the premier global conferences in artificial intelligence. This background shapes how I teach: clear structure, simple explanations, and breaking big problems down into simple steps that young children can easily digest.

At Mayfair Scholars, my goal is to make 11+ preparation feel empowering rather than overwhelming. By combining academic rigour with a warm, encouraging environment, I help students earn places at top schools while building lasting confidence in their own abilities.

We bypass rote formula memorisation in favour of true mathematical fluency. Students learn to deconstruct complex, unseen problems modelled on top-tier senior school entrance papers, cultivating the calm adaptability required for non-standard questions. 

Non-Verbal Reasoning & Spatial Intuition :
NVR is approached as a systematic process of pattern discovery rather than educated guesswork. We guide students to decode spatial transformations and visual relationships methodically, building rapid, intuitive processing speed under timed conditions. 

Academic Interview & Spoken Logic:
 Top-tier admissions evaluate how a child thinks under dynamic conditions. We train students to articulate their mathematical logic out loud, fostering the poise, clarity, and intellectual presence needed when engaging with senior admissions panels. 

Structure of Engagement

Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment:
Mentorship begins with a complimentary 30-minute consultation to discuss your target schools and academic ambitions. Should you choose to proceed, we conduct a dedicated 60-minute diagnostic evaluation (£50) testing the boundaries of your child’s mathematical and logical intuition. This is followed by an in-depth parent debrief to map out a tailored, highly competitive trajectory for target school entry.

High-Touch Partnership:
Lessons offer an engaging, bespoke environment where high academic expectations are matched with warmth and encouragement. Targeted, purposeful assigned practice between sessions ensures continuous progress without overwhelm.

The way Sid was so professional with me really encourages me to recommend him as he always gave me detailed feedback after my son's lesson and it made it easy to discuss the improvements with my son. Sid tutored our son for about 12 weeks last year for his 11+ prep, and he was fantastic. Most previous tutors we tried would just open up a standard Bond book and work through the pages line by line, which got boring fast. However, Sid was completely different and always showed up with his own material. Having taken a look at it myself, the material was incredibly high quality, engaging for my son, and way more challenging than standard assessment books!!
