About Nicole

With 30 years of experience, I have worked with individuals of all ages beyond a traditional 'class room' as a professional to help others learn (and to also teach) in diverse settings. I have many on-the job professional certifications at a capstone level, in addition to a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies , and am a current graduate student in applied behavioral psychology. At my age, I understand that (1) life is constantly changing for each and every one of us (2) that one is never too old to stop learning (3) and that a person should never quit nor give up in the learning process, no matter what obstacles are faced or encountered. Obstacles create character, and character allows us the choice of continuing the learning process. Not all knowledge is learned through 'books' but also through technical application, or a combination of both. My experience involves helping individuals to better understand their own personalities and how they uniquely operate, so that they can learn how to 'apply' themselves to gaining knowledge and then applying such knowledge. I am knowledgeable with APA writing style.

About the lesson

I enjoy working with students to learn and apply study materials based upon their skillsets and style. I apply confidence in my knowledge of materials as a tutor, and I actively listen to the student to better understand their needs in which to apply problem solving and time management to their studying and learning. To study information is 'one' thing, but to 'learn' material is another! Lesson plans depend upon the subject material being studied and length of time needed or required for student to learn material. As a mature, middle-aged Mom with an elementary-aged child and a family schedule, I understand the needs for time-management, but also that 'life happens!', and what we prepare for as both adults and students may not always 'work', requiring a 'plan b'. With this said, I am patient, understanding, and available to work both during and after hours to help students solve their problems.
