About Zelig

My name is Zelig Zhang. I am still an independent student so I know how much work goes into studying science and maths. I remember all the hours I’d spent staring deep into my textbook hoping something would click. The teachers were always too far ahead and I started to stray away from my passion for science. It wasn’t until I went for tutoring that I was able to grasp complex topics easily. It’s so easy to fall into self doubt when you have no one to encourage you, all that you need sometimes is a little guidance from someone who’s been where you are. I also suffer from ADHD which, (if you don’t know), is a learning disability that affects concentration and is hardly ever catered for in schools. My first-hand experience with ADHD in academia is something that a lot of other teachers don’t have and won’t understand. I know the struggle but I also know the solution. I can show you how I conquered my fear of failure and built enough confidence to succeed.

About the lesson

As an independent student, having only matriculated 2 years ago, I know first hand how stressful and seemingly impossible maths and science can be. I try to remedy this by helping my students not only understand the intricacies of the scientific world but embrace and appreciate the beauty of those intricacies and help build the confidence needed to succeed. There is no such thing as a stupid question for questions are foundation upon which science was built. I understand that many students don’t have an interest in science or maths and that is perfectly understandable, maths is a compulsory subject and for some people, it gets in the way of their true passion. At the end of the day, my aim is to guide my students over their many hurdles to get to they’re meant to be, not to force my passion onto them. I have experience with the Cambridge curriculum but I am confident in my ability to tutor CAPS students as well. If you’re finding yourself staring at the exam paper not knowing whether it’s mathematics or ancient Egyptian or if you just want to turn that B into an A, then, as someone who’s been in your shoes, let me show you how to run!
