About Ella

I am 18 years old, with experience working in schools, with primary and secondary school students, working in groups and on a one-to-one basis with students, pushing them to be their best selves. I got all 8/9s for GCSE and A/A*s at A Level, and now studying mathematics at University of Bristol, with the plan to receive a post graduate in education and eventually achieve a lifetime goal of becoming a maths secondary school teacher. I love maths, and always love inspiring hope, so this opportunity really embraces those sides of myself. I believe everyone has the ability to be "clever" or to get the grades that they really want, or even just to build the confidence of believing their own work to be correct, all they need is someone to guide them in the right direction and to encourage hope and positivity. As a highly competitive swimmer, I know the determination that is needed to maintain a good positive mindset, so alongside my grades and other qualifications, I want my positive outlook and inner drive to be passed onto my students, so they can tackle any problems they face with strength, not just in maths but in the world.

About the lesson

Ranging from 1-2 hours, my lessons include an icebreaker, discussion and some questions. The icebreaker is used to establish prior knowledge around the topic and proceed accordingly. In the discussion, we will go through questions together, with encouragement to try the question themselves. Once a question is completed by themselves, they are motivated to check through their work. Once they are happy, we mark together and look for where the student was correct, and take the pressure off making mistakes, allowing them to believe in themselves and their work. Once this confidence and resilience is established, the difficulty is increased at a steady rate until the student feels ready to tackle exam paper alone. I can teach any age of student, from primary school, through secondary, and then through to GCSE and A Level, and can also teach further maths GCSE and A Level to students who require it.

She was able to explain mathematical concepts to them at a level that they understood. I offer my first class for free. I charge £20 an hour because I have high-quality lessons, and I work outside of that scheduled hour to make the most of every minute during the lesson.
