About Udaya
I bring over 9 years of experience in private tutoring across Cambridge, Edexcel, and Sri Lankan National curricula, along with 4+ years of teaching Cambridge Mathematics and Additional Mathematics at secondary school level in Sri Lanka. In Australia, I have worked as a private mathematics tutor for more than 1.5 years, supporting students with both schoolwork and exam preparation.
Beyond classroom teaching, I have extensive experience in setting and moderating term test papers and designing lesson plans for students in Years 5 to 10. This has given me strong insight into how to assess a student’s current ability and provide clear guidance to help them build confidence, strengthen skills, and overcome challenges in mathematics.
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Physical Science with majors in Mathematics, Chemistry, and Computer Science, as well as a Master of Science in Analytical Chemistry.
With my background and passion for teaching, I aim to help every student succeed in mathematics — whether that means catching up, keeping up, or reaching their highest potential.

Over the years, I have found that many students lose interest in mathematics because of a weak foundation in basic concepts. This gap often discourages them from moving forward with confidence. I believe that rebuilding and strengthening these fundamentals is the key to helping students regain interest and succeed in mathematics.
Before starting each lesson, I conduct a short assessment to check the student’s understanding of core concepts. This helps identify areas that need extra attention and allows us to set clear goals and create a personalised study plan.
Every lesson is carefully structured to ensure that students not only learn but master the essential concepts. To reinforce learning, I design engaging online tests for each chapter, which provide valuable practice and allow me to track individual progress.
Each session runs for a minimum of one hour, with the option to extend to two hours if needed, depending on the student’s requirements.
