About ASHISH KUMAR
I am a dedicated Mathematics tutor with a strong academic background in Computer Science and Data Science, and a genuine passion for teaching. I hold a joint MSc in Data Science and AI from the University of Birmingham and IIT Madras, and I have experience teaching both in UK secondary school classrooms and through one-to-one tutoring.
I began teaching during my undergraduate studies as a peer tutor, supporting junior students in Mathematics and Computer Science. Since then, I have worked as a private Mathematics tutor for secondary school students (Years 9–11 equivalent) and completed a teaching internship at a UK secondary school, where I supported lesson delivery and student engagement within the National Curriculum framework.
I enjoy teaching because I believe Mathematics should be logical, accessible, and confidence-building rather than intimidating. My goal is to help students understand concepts clearly, develop problem-solving skills, and feel confident in their own ability to succeed. I am professional, patient, and committed to providing structured, supportive, and high-quality lessons tailored to each student’s needs.

My tutoring approach is student-centred, structured, and concept-focused. I begin by understanding a student’s current level and areas of difficulty, then tailor lessons to strengthen fundamentals before progressing to exam-level problems. I emphasise why concepts work, not just how, helping students develop logical thinking and long-term confidence.
I use step-by-step explanations, real-world examples, guided practice, and regular questioning to ensure active engagement. For exam-focused students, I incorporate past-paper questions, time-management strategies, and common mistake analysis.
