About Rhea
I have twelve years of experience teaching Math and have worked with students of all ages and ability levels. My teaching philosophy centers on patience, clarity, and flexibility, allowing learners to build both competence and self-confidence at their own pace. I believe that a supportive and encouraging environment is essential for helping students feel capable, motivated, and eager to engage with challenging material. I adapt lessons to each student’s learning style, whether through visual aids, guided practice, discussion, repetition, or applied problem-solving. By understanding individual strengths and challenges, I create lessons that are both engaging and effective, helping students achieve meaningful progress while developing critical thinking and analytical skills that will serve them beyond the classroom. Outside teaching, I continually study new teaching strategies, problem-solving techniques, and mathematical methods to enhance my lessons. Sharing these insights with students helps them see the dynamic and relevant nature of mathematics, and witnessing their growth into confident, independent learners is one of the most fulfilling aspects of my work.

Mathematics becomes meaningful when students understand the logic behind each step and how concepts connect to each other. In my lessons, I incorporate a mix of elementary school math, middle school math, algebra, geometry, and SAT math, providing students with a comprehensive foundation and a variety of problem-solving experiences. I begin with reinforcing basic arithmetic, fractions, ratios, and reasoning patterns, emphasizing conceptual understanding alongside procedural fluency. Step-by-step guidance and hands-on exercises ensure that learners feel supported while developing confidence in their skills.
As students advance, we explore algebraic expressions, multi-step equations, geometric applications, word problems, and exam-specific strategies. I provide structured explanations, practical examples, and contextual applications to help students see the relevance of mathematics in everyday life. Learners are encouraged to think critically, make connections between topics, and approach problems strategically. My aim is to strengthen analytical skills, logical reasoning, and independent problem-solving ability, while fostering a positive mindset toward mathematics.
Advanced sessions focus on tackling complex, multi-step problems, integrating different concepts, and preparing for examinations such as SATs or school-level assessments. Students develop resilience, self-discipline, and confidence, gaining the ability to approach unfamiliar problems with systematic thinking and creativity. My lessons are designed to create a supportive environment that nurtures understanding, skill development, and curiosity in mathematics, preparing students for long-term academic success.
