About Russell

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have worked in engineering businesses for my whole career. Initially I started with Rolls-Royce as an engineer, before moving on to business improvement roles in engineering companies. Throughout my career I have maintained my interest in science and engineering, and I have also acted as a mentor/coach both within the companies I have worked, as well as a mentor with the Prince's Trust, and a Non-Executive Director with two local businesses. I have been offered an unconditional offer to start teacher training as a secondary school Physics teacher in September 2018.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Not at present, though I am currently going through the review with another body.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

About the lesson

I have worked as a tutor and mentor throughout my career. I have a passion for supporting individuals to reach their potential.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach both Physics and Maths at all secondary levels up to and including A-Level

- Tell me about your qualifications.

As well as a First Class degree in Physics (University College, London), I have Master's degrees in both Electrical Engineering (Electrical Power and Control, Nottingham University) and Nuclear Engineering (Nuclear Reactor Technology, Royal Naval College).

- How much do you charge?

My charge is a flat £30 per hour. However, I like to have a free initial coffee meeting with all potential clients to explore their requirements and to ensure there is a good rapport between us. I also charge just £15 per hour for the first session as this is used to understand the student's current knowledge level and to put a plan together for future lessons.

- Where do you teach?

I am happy to teach at my home, or at the student's home. I am happy to travel up to 10 miles for lessons at no extra charge, and this covers all areas of Derby, Burton, Swadlincote and Long Eaton.

- When are you available?

I am available every weekday at all times up to 8pm.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

I teach all secondary age children from KS3 to KS5.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

I prepare students for GCSEs and A-levels in Mathematics, and Physics.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I will use Skype for online tutoring together with equipment to allow for screens to be shared.
