About Kirsty
I studied both maths and further maths at GCSE and A-Level and went on to complete a Masters Degree in Mathematics at QUB. Following my PGDE I’ve been teaching for 6 years in a mixed ability school.
I believe maths is essential in today’s world and every student deserves to be competent and confident in the subject. My teachers enabled me to develop a love for maths, which is what I want to pass on to the next generation.

I have a strong belief that maths is just a series of simple steps applied together and that anyone can achieve positive results when they understand these simple steps. My approach to teaching is ensuring students can identify what a question is asking and link this to the simple steps required to answer. I will model examples and give time for students to practice new skills, provide opportunities to address misconceptions and explain concepts in a way that the student can understand by relating it to real life concepts.
