About Sam

Hi! I am Sam or Mr Li - I don’t mind what you call me! I completed a degree in BEd Primary Education at the University of Winchester in 2021, achieving QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). I then became a primary school teacher with 2 years experience in year 5. I specialise in Maths, English, French and Physical Education. As well as tutoring, I am also a tennis coach! Tennis has always been my passion alongside teaching. Whether it’s getting ready for SATs or working on a specific subject, I look forward to helping you progress!

About the lesson

I have recently started tutoring my partner's daughter which has helped me to realise how much I miss teaching! This has mainly been in maths where I have been teaching her how to use coins in real life contexts. This involved laying out coins, adding and subtracting them using column addition and working out how much change remains. A typical lesson with me would involve a hook to engage you with the lesson focus, followed by practical approaches to achieve the lesson objective. I adapt my lessons to your child as I understand every child has different learning needs, from verbal, to visual, to practical.
