About Oscar
I'm Oscar. I'm a final-year English Literature student at Trinity College Dublin, a Math tutor, and a part-time stand-up comedian (so, not a complete nerd).
I've been giving 1-to-1 math grinds since the year of my own Leaving Cert. I'm good at keeping people's interest. There's nothing worse than a boring lesson, especially after a week of (no offense, but probably) pretty boring lessons.

Most people hate maths, and I don't blame them.
I'm a final-year student at Trinity College Dublin with four years' experience tutoring maths at Junior and Leaving Cert level, ordinary and higher. Students of mine have gone from failing at Christmas to getting a H4 in June. In that time I've seen the same pattern over and over:
Somewhere along the way — through absence, an unengaging teacher, ADHD, or something else entirely — the student missed a core concept. Now, when it's time to solve problems, that fundamental insight isn't there. This can be extremely frustrating, especially for kids who are otherwise strong academically.
Luckily, the solution is always the same: diagnose the missing link, then build intuition. That's why I prefer individualised, one-to-one lessons. Strengthening a student's foundations lets them absorb new curriculum modules and concepts far more easily.
Lessons are one hour long. I ask my students to send me some recent work beforehand (mock exams, worksheets, etc.) so we can get straight to the point.
