About Alexander
I am an incoming freshman at Yale University who has been tutoring GCSE Mathematics, introductory Olympiad Maths and Physics for three years. During my course of study in high school, I obtained high 9s in GCSE Mathematics, Additional Mathematics and Physics, along with predicted A* in both A-level Mathematics, Further Maths and a D1 in CIE Pre-U Physics.
As a past USAMO (United States of America Mathematical Olympiad) qualifier, a participant in the highly selective UKMT Olympiad Maths Camp (only 20 were selected nationally) and a BMO 2 (British Mathematical Olympiad Round 2) qualifier, I enjoy bringing my passion for problem-solving to the classroom setting.
I have previously volunteered at the Riana Charity Network teaching GCSE-level mathematics and physics for three years, and I was also a regular tutor at the Hammersmith Academy.

My teaching methodology aims to create a classroom culture that supports independent problem-solving and self-enrichment. Starting with open questions such as, 'what system can you see emerging in this problem?', I encourage students to spot patterns and generalise their observations into tricks they can use for themselves in the future.
I base my teaching on developing a connection with students, by being engaging, encouraging, patient and highly passionate about my subject(s). By combining my experience in Olympiad maths with high-school curriculum-based mathematics, I offer adaptive classes where I engage my students with questions to guide them to an independent understanding of the problem and the subject. :)
At the moment, I am only available to provide tuitions online via Skype or Zoom.
