About Jamie
I have taught in various settings from sailing to English language. I genuinely enjoy helping others learn and build confidence in new skills.
I personally struggled with the memorisation/method heavy approach to maths and all education in school. At university I've found that an approach focussed on understanding and lead by curiosity has not only made mathematics a more enjoyable subject for me but also far more intuitive!

My lessons focus on building a deep understanding of mathematics rather than memorising methods. I break topics down step by step, adapting explanations to each student’s pace and needs. I aim to create a calm, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence.
With experience tutoring and a background in Mathematics and Philosophy at the University of Sheffield, I bring a patient and structured approach to teaching. I especially enjoy helping students see maths as a logical, puzzle-like subject where concepts connect naturally once understood.
