About Spencer
My passion for mathematics was sparked by a fascination with patterns, logic, and problem-solving in everyday life. This led me to complete a B.Sc in Mathematics and an M.Sc in Applied Mathematics, which provided a strong foundation in theory, analytical reasoning, and applied techniques. Over 10 years, I have taught students across different proficiency levels, helping them develop both conceptual understanding and practical problem-solving skills, while building confidence and intellectual curiosity.
I adopt a student-focused teaching approach, combining visual explanations, interactive exercises, stepwise guidance, and real-world examples. I encourage learners to question assumptions, explore multiple strategies, and develop independent reasoning. My methodology emphasizes comprehension over memorization, ensuring students gain a solid foundation and the ability to apply concepts creatively.
Outside teaching, I engage in applied mathematics research, data modeling, and analytical projects, which enrich lessons with contemporary relevance. Observing learners transform from hesitation to confidence and clarity is immensely rewarding. Supporting students to become capable, thoughtful, and confident mathematicians remains the central motivation in my teaching practice.

Lesson structure is adapted to each learner’s level. Beginners focus on fundamental arithmetic, basic equations, and logical reasoning. Intermediate learners tackle multi-step problems, functions, geometric constructions, and data interpretation. Advanced learners engage with proofs, modeling, optimization, and competition-style problem solving. Each class blends explanation, guided practice, iterative feedback, and independent exercises to ensure conceptual clarity and mastery of techniques, empowering students to approach mathematics with confidence and curiosity.
