About William
I always loved sports at school. Whether it was rugby, football, tennis or cricket, I would look forward to evenings after lessons where I could go outside and play sport. There was one thing that stopped me. Time. I would spend hours sat at my desk battling it out with my homework. I had gaps missing between the lessons and the set work meaning I was confused. Unable to do the things I loved, I pushed myself to understand the topics- not just know how to answer the question. It was at that point where things became easier; with a real understanding of each topic, I could free up the time to do the things I wanted to whilst studying for my A-levels where I achieved A*A*A*A* (Maths, Physics, Economics, EPQ). Now that I am at university, where I achieved 98% in Economics and 97% in Astrophysics, my passion to learn and help others has grown. My mission to make learning fun, tailored, and unique. No need to rely only on textbooks. No need to be waiting on emails to your teachers. No need for YouTube videos that don't make sense. I will use analogies focused around the sports you love, the hobbies you do, and the interests that you have. I hope to help you achieve the goals that you are truly capable of whilst enjoying the process.

My lessons focus on the underlying principles. From school, far too often, I was told how to answer an exam, but it left me wondering how things worked. I was able to answer straightforward questions across the mathematics syllabus but struggled with more complex situations. It was only until I began to understand the maths I had been taught, independently, that I could then apply myself. This mismatch between knowledge and understanding is why I tutor and has been the focus point of all my students so far. Whilst textbooks can help you understand, I will be the first to say that reading something then applying it straight away can be hard. Further, textbooks can be boring. My style of teaching involves knowing about my students- what are your hobbies, favourite sports to play, favourite animal? I tailor my lessons around your areas of interest to keep topics engaging as well as familiar to you. My detailed approach will typically cover 1-2 topics per session using an introduction, methodology, and practice style. It is important to not just understand the maths, but also to know why it is useful and where it is used in real life. After a short intro, we tackle the problems that you have with your maths and then we will look at some challenging questions together to gauge understanding. This methodology has worked consistently with my students (and I find the research around each topic's use in real life, with examples, particularly fun too!).

Really helpful and thorough with explanations. Would recommend to anyone looking to understand real world applications of physics and economics.
Super useful when it came to long answer questions in Economics especially by learning how to apply economic concepts to real life articles. Will helped me in Maths and Economics during my A-levels in 2025. I thought his style of teaching was unique and fun which drew away from the idea of a lesson. I highly recommend, especially if you have struggled with either concentration or understanding in Economics or Maths.
Will is very knowledgeable, patient and kind. He has extensive knowledge of maths. He is experienced in helping those younger than him. I would highly recommend
Will has given me the path to achieve my desired grade of an A* in maths. He’s very patient and explains complex ideas from different perspectives ensuring I understood the theory behind my maths.
