About Afiyah
I am a mathematics teacher. I have tutored one-on-one since November 2019 up until now. I have tutored a first-year varsity student from Feb 2020 to May 2020. Amongst others, I am tutoring a grade 10 learner for maths and physical science, a grade 8 learner (maths), a grade 9 learner (maths and natural science), and grade 10 (life science).

My teaching method is very learner-centered. I focus on helping them understand the concept rather than memorizing the content. I like using practical examples when explaining content so that learners can have a visual explanation as well. I assess all learners at first so that I can understand which learning style each learner has; thereafter, I will set up a structural plan for the upcoming lessons. I prefer to work one-on-one with learners at first; once learners feel comfortable, I combine and form groups because I believe that learners learn just as much from each other. I encourage learners to feel comfortable and to be honest at all times, and most importantly, I push learners to achieve their academic goals.
