About Alan
As an experienced and qualified Mathematics teacher, I offer friendly, encouraging tuition tailored to each student’s individual needs from Key Stage 3 through to GCSE, IGCSE, FSMQ and A level.
With extensive classroom experience across a range of schools—including high-achieving secondary schools, mixed-gender schools and middle schools—I understand how to help students build confidence, overcome misconceptions and achieve their academic goals.
Alongside ten years of tutoring experience, I have developed a wide range of targeted resources to identify and address gaps in understanding, helping students prepare effectively for examinations and make meaningful progress in mathematics.

My lessons are generally 1-hour sessions. These can be online or in person, depending on location. Usually, the first few lessons may contain some diagnostic assessments so that I can target the areas to focus on in future sessions. However, if a student is acutely aware of their current difficulties, I can adapt to their needs. Each lesson should feel bespoke and student-led. I like to create a friendly atmosphere where students don't feel embarrassed about making mistakes and believe encouragement is always the best approach in helping a student realise their potential.
