About Amelia
I am a third year mathematics student predicted a 2:1 at Swansea University and I am looking to do a masters in mathematics next year.
I have been tutoring privately for over 4 years and I find tutoring very rewarding experience and wish to take it further.
I am also considering teaching as a career and have had previous experience tutoring GCSE and A Level for one to one and small groups in a secondary school. In addition to this I have experience tutoring primary school mathematics to either gain confidence or to prepare for 11 Plus exams for both Kent and Medway.

My style of teaching depends on the level of mathematics tutoring that is required. For A Level and GCSE my main approach is to teach through PowerPoints then test knowledge through past paper questions. I also give students past papers to complete under exam conditions to ascertain the topic areas that need improvement. In my opinion the key to A level and GCSE success is past paper practice as this will give students a more accurate representation of what to expect in an exam. In addition to this I like to motivate students and push them to the best of their ability without overworking them.
Secondly, for 11 Plus I tend more to go through subject areas and get students to complete work sheets. I also find that the main areas that students find difficult for 11 Plus are decimals, fractions, algebra etc. Students find it difficult to remember previous lessons. To resolve this, I continually test students on previous topics learned throughout all sessions.
