About Michael
Hi, my name is Michael.
I am a Science & Mathematics Education student in DCU, and have also studied Engineering in the past.
I love spending time hiking, camping, solving puzzles, and playing board games. I’m involved with multiple societies and clubs in university, and have been the chairperson of the outdoors club for the last 2 years.
I have always been hugely interested in Physics and Math, so showing the generations behind me how interesting they can be is a huge part of the reason I decided to become a teacher. In practical terms, they are both also hugely useful subjects to understand, so they really are the best of both worlds.
I began teaching several years ago through a science education company that I’m still involved with. Through this, I found a passion for teaching that I couldn’t find in engineering, so I transferred and have not looked back. Since then, I have taught several courses for CTYI and the DCU Faculty of Engineering, as well as giving grinds locally.
I’m hoping to graduate soon and begin teaching full-time.

Students can expect to spend most of their time answering and discussing exam questions from previous years’ papers. I focus on understanding the material, structuring study plans, and strategies for approaching questions.
My classes are mostly student-led, letting them answer questions and helping them identify areas in need of development. Where students are struggling with understanding fundamental concepts, I work to help them visualise the concepts and transition that understanding into marks on the paper.
My lessons are different from school because I can give students my complete attention, carefully identify weaknesses in understanding, and address them directly.
Students can expect a deeper understanding of the material, improved exam performance, and better confidence in their own abilities.
I cover Ordinary and Higher Level Mathematics and Physics for Junior and Leaving Cert students.
Navan-based, with online and in-person lessons available.
Typical grind length is 1–2 hours.
Grinds available from now until the Junior and Leaving Certificates, with most weekday afternoons/evenings available.
I have 5 years’ experience teaching STEM subjects. I am studying Science and Mathematics Education in DCU, and have completed 3 years of Mechatronic Engineering. I have run science camps for DCU and CTYI, and have given grinds in both Maths and Physics before.
