About Ian

My passion for mathematics began with fascination for patterns, logical structures, and the way abstract ideas explain real-world systems. This interest led me to complete an M.Sc in Pure Mathematics, where I explored deeper reasoning and advanced theoretical foundations. Over the past 8 years, I have guided students through mathematical challenges by creating lessons that are supportive, structured, and confidence-building.

My teaching style is patient and adaptable. I break down difficult topics into manageable steps, using clear explanation, practice guidance, and visual reasoning where needed. I encourage students to ask questions freely and develop independence in their learning journey.

Outside tutoring, I remain engaged with mathematics through continued learning and exploring its applications in science, technology, and problem-solving fields. Teaching maths is rewarding because I see learners transform from doubt into confidence. My goal is to help students trust their abilities and achieve lasting success.

About the lesson

Mathematics becomes far more manageable when students learn that every concept builds logically from the one before. In my lessons, I guide learners through algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus foundations, and probability with clarity and steady encouragement. I focus on helping students understand the reasoning behind methods, so they gain independence instead of relying on memorised tricks. Each session includes guided examples, structured practice, and feedback that strengthens confidence over time. My goal is to make maths feel approachable and empowering.

Lessons are adapted to each learner’s level. Beginners focus on arithmetic fluency, fractions, equations, and foundational confidence. Intermediate learners strengthen algebraic manipulation, graph interpretation, geometry reasoning, and exam strategies. Advanced students explore calculus applications, probability challenges, optimisation problems, and deeper analytical thinking. Every lesson is designed to build long-term skill.

Maths lessons also develop patience, resilience, and clear problem-solving habits. Students learn to approach challenges calmly and trust their reasoning. Many discover confidence that supports performance across other subjects as well. My mission is to help learners succeed academically while building lifelong analytical strength.
