About Duke

Hi, my name is Duke. I'm a third year Mathematics student at The University Of Bristol with a fierce passion for maths and, in time, would like to become a maths professor. Personally, I wasn't always deemed good at maths - I loved it, but sometimes the learning did not click with me. That was until a certain teacher came into my life when I was younger. His exuberance coupled with kindness and empathy allowed me to realise my potential and believe in myself. His example is my blueprint.

About the lesson

Whether you're looking to ignite your own passion, or maths is not your thing and you simply need to pass an exam, I am here to help. As a tutor, the way I work is to: Make sure those I teach truly understand the topics we discuss. Students may find it uncomfortable to ask questions if they don't understand something, therefore I create a comfortable environment in which they feel able to do so. Be patient and understanding with each of my pupils. You can't teach everyone the same way, we all learn differently. I adapt my teaching style to individuals' needs, while providing all-important encouragement. Typical length of a lesson is one hour, and I can teach from KS1/2/3, GCSE or A-level Maths. One year previous tutoring experience and A*’s in both Maths and Further Maths A-levels!

Great natural mathematical ability. Sometimes takes it for granted and rushes things/does them in his head - but it’s really only natural for his age. My main role is to break his poor habits and make sure he’s sure of his answers and checks his working frequently.
