About Finley

My passion for mathematics grew from a love of logical structure and problem-solving challenges. This led me to complete a B.Sc in Mathematics followed by an M.Sc in Pure and Applied Mathematics, where I developed strong analytical thinking skills. Over 12 years of teaching, I have helped learners overcome fear and confusion by rebuilding foundations clearly and patiently.

I believe effective math teaching requires empathy and adaptability. Many students struggle due to gaps in understanding, so I focus on identifying and addressing those gaps carefully. I encourage open discussion and questions, creating a supportive environment where learners feel comfortable exploring ideas.

Beyond teaching, I stay engaged with mathematical research, applications, and continuous learning. Teaching mathematics is deeply rewarding because I witness learners grow in confidence, clarity, and pride as they master challenging concepts.

About the lesson

Mathematics becomes accessible when learners understand the reasoning behind each step instead of relying on memorization. My lessons focus on building strong conceptual foundations across arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and introductory calculus. I help students see how mathematical ideas connect, encouraging pattern recognition and logical thinking. Concepts are introduced gradually, ensuring learners feel confident before moving forward.

Lessons are tailored to individual needs and academic levels. Beginners work on number sense, basic operations, and foundational reasoning with patient explanation and repetition. Intermediate learners focus on algebraic manipulation, functions, graphs, and word problem strategies. Advanced learners refine multi-step problem-solving, exam techniques, proofs, and analytical precision. Each session includes guided practice, clear walkthroughs, and reflective discussion.

Maths lessons also strengthen patience, focus, and confidence. As understanding improves, learners approach problems with reduced anxiety and increased independence. My goal is to help students trust their reasoning, develop resilience, and see mathematics as a skill they can master through understanding and practice.
