About Alexander

With 16 years of experience teaching mathematics in both private and public middle and high school settings, I bring depth, structure, and proven results to every lesson. I have worked with students of diverse abilities and backgrounds, helping them strengthen their foundations, raise their grades, and develop lasting confidence in math.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have successfully tutored many students individually, including my friends’ children and my own. I understand the responsibility parents entrust to a tutor, and I approach each student’s learning with care, professionalism, and high expectations.

I am especially proud that one of my own children pursued mathematics at the highest academic level and became a PhD student in math. This reflects not only a strong academic foundation, but also a deep appreciation for the subject — something I strive to cultivate in every student I teach.

About the lesson

My teaching begins with identifying and filling in students’ gaps in background knowledge. Many students struggle not because the material is too difficult, but because earlier concepts were not fully mastered. I carefully diagnose those gaps and rebuild the foundation step by step.

I focus on helping students see the connections between mathematical concepts, rather than memorizing isolated formulas. When students understand how ideas are linked, their confidence grows, and problem-solving becomes more natural.

My lessons emphasize:

Conceptual understanding before procedures
Clear, structured explanations
Guided practice with increasing independence
Frequent checks for understanding
Development of mathematical reasoning and communication
Multiple visual examples and hands-on activities.
