About Kaila
I am a graduate student in the Astrophysics MSc program at Universität Bonn. I have a BSc in physics with minors in math and astronomy from Virginia Tech, magna cum laude. I have tutored math from algebra to calculus (Analysis) and physics up to the bachelor level. I have experience tutoring both children and adults. I'm a native English speaker from Washington, DC, USA and I tutor in English.
In math I have experience with tutoring arithmetic, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, precalculus, probability, statistics, linear algebra, differential equations, and calculus (single and multiple variable, vector). In physics I have tutored kinematics, mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, quantum physics, and astrophysics.

I like to start with making sure my students have a conceptual understanding of what is happening, and then move to doing lots of different types of problems to make the concepts stick. I'm patient and willing to explain in many different ways as much as necessary until students can explain the topic back to me. I use an interactive Socratic method to ensure that students are engaged and figuring things out, not just memorizing steps. Students learn best when engaged with the material, so I like to use students' existing interests and questions as a springboard into course topics.

Details
I charge 30€/hour for 1 hour of math/physics tutoring with one student. If there are 2 or more students, then my group rate is 25€/hour/student.
