About Jeff
My name is Jeff, and I have been teaching mathematics seriously for several years; not as a side activity, but as something I invest in with the same rigor I bring to my own work.
I founded a mathematics enrichment program that grew to over a hundred students, have mentored students through olympiad preparation, and have served as a teaching assistant at university level. Across all of that, I have worked with students at every stage: middle schoolers encountering proofs for the first time, undergraduates struggling with analysis or abstract algebra, and self-learners working through rigorous textbooks on their own.
My subject depth is broad and genuine. I have worked in real analysis, abstract algebra, linear algebra, combinatorics, graph theory, topology, probability, and the mathematical foundations of machine learning and data science. I do not teach from the surface of a curriculum. I teach from a place of actually understanding the mathematics, which means I can answer the questions textbooks do not address and explain not just what is true, but why it is true.
If you are looking for a tutor who will engage with your understanding honestly and help you make real, lasting progress, I would be glad to work with you.

I don't lecture. I ask questions until you're asking better ones than me.
My approach is discovery-first: before I define anything, I try to get you to the edge of needing the definition yourself. That moment is where real understanding lives. Once you've felt why a theorem has to be true, you stop forgetting it.
I use a lot of small examples that break the obvious pattern, targeted questions that expose exactly where intuition fails, and deliberate pauses. Silence is productive. I'd rather you sit with a problem for three minutes than have me solve it in thirty seconds.
