About Jess
I have taught English, Business Education, Social Studies, Science, and Math in middle school. I love teaching science and math specifically. I have a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education 6th-12th from the University of West Georgia.
Math Tutor: K-12th grade
Science Tutor: 6th-8th grade
This past year I had 17 students I was working specifically with in the classroom. We made a goal at the beginning of the year that everyone would increase by 2 grade levels. I had 14/17 students complete this goal from August to May. Many did not believe they could do it. Many told me I was crazy.
I want you to set a crazy, wild goal this year so you can amaze yourself in what you can do when you set your mind to it. You can do more than you think when we work together.

I spend the first couple minutes getting to know how you are doing each time we meet. Math specifically is analytically driven and is highly connected to your mood.
We will start work with some problems that you are confident in.
Next, I will let you work on new work, or I will reteach, or we will walk through new material together.
We will end with what you learned today through speaking about the lesson or completing a problem.
Each lesson is student driven based on the student's needs.
My specialty is in pre-algebra, 8th grade math. My approach to teaching is highly based on student needs. I am constantly determining where the student is at, what they need and how they can grow.

I have always struggled with math through high school, college, and as an adult. I had to take a math, reading, and writing exam for a job and she sat down with me for a few hours to go through the material that would be covered on the math portion. The math section ended up being my highest score section.
