About Katherine

Experienced private tutor with tracking record with Tutor Doctors and an Engineering instructor for not-for-profit called KE foundation. Focused in the areas of STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. However, has also taught Social Studies and English to High School Students as well. I possess a dynamic educational background myself growing up the Canadian system starting from Kindergarten, the British school systems during primary and secondary and completing and graduating high school in Western Canada. I earned a BSc. in chemical engineering from the University of Alberta and a MSc in chemical engineering from Manhattan University, NYC. GPA: 3.86/4.00. I moved to Montreal to learn French at Université de Montréal possess an advanced level of the language. I believe success means not giving up, always continuing, and always focusing on your strengths. Currently a working professional in Montréal as a chemical engineer.

About the lesson

I have privately tutored K-12 students at their homes, their schools, at libraries or at cafes including Special Students.

A typical lesson plan focuses on step by step problem solving techniques, looking for patterns and asking ourselves questions to help formulate a complete solution including a cross-checking step. I teach students how to simplify concepts and boost their critical thinking abilities when tackling a problem so that they grow to become quick, confident and successful problem solvers themselves.

I currently tutor Singapore math (and sometimes ESL) with students internationally online in a group setting, on evenings and weekends with a reputable platform since Fall 2023, from Levels 3 to 10. I really enjoy my classes and have taught the same students in continual semesters - seeing them succeed and have those "aha moments" is a rewarding win! Parents have shared how far their children have improved in school.
