About Jonathan

1) Personally I have represented Malaysia to the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO 2002) after winning Second Place in the Highest 'Sulong' Individual Category for the Malaysian National Math Olympiad (OMK, Olimpiad Matematik Kebangsaan) in 2002. I also got a Gold Medal and World Ranking No.8 out of 1415 contestants in Sony's Global Math Challenge in 2015. I have also gotten Bronze Achievement in the Malaysian National Physics Competition (in year 2000) and a Distinction in the Australian National Chemistry Quiz (Senior Division back in 2001).

2) Academically I have a Bsc. Actuarial Science (Hons) from the National University of Malaysia (UKM). In school exams, Malaysia's SPM I scored 8 As & 2B's back in year 2000 and was a Bank Negara Malaysia's Scholarship recipient to study at UKM (2003 to 2006). I have an Exam P (Probability) completed for the SOA (Society of Actuaries) paper.

3) I am one of the official Math Olympiad Coaches for the Malaysian national Team and have also Coached Malaysia to a few Private Olympiads too apart from students into various olympiads including the IMO (International Mathematical Olympiad), OMK (Malaysian National Math Olympiad), IMONST (International Math Olympiad National Selection Test), Kangaroo Math Competition (KMC) and many others!

4) Apart from academic teaching work, I have also worked as a Seismic Engineer with Schlumberger Oil and Gas (2006 to 2010), Charity Work with mostly teaching (2011 to 2013), Center Manager and Math Olympiad Coach with Ardent Educational Consultants, Brainbuilder & TeamMathics (2014 to 2016) and went on full "Freelancing" from 2016 till today. I also teach informal Guitar playing occasionally and study theology as well as go lake fishing if I find the time!

About the lesson

1) I teach mostly Competition Mathematics for ages 9 to 15.

2) The materials which I provide are following the Problem Solving through problems approach. Malaysian Time followed (UTC +8). Typically on online 1 to 1 Class (group class suggestions are welcome too) via the Zoom App for an hour. Students are welcome to ask their own questions as well during class. Lessons are in English and I can also teach in Malay.

3) Fees

RM 70/hr (for ages 9 to 12)
RM 100/hr (for ages 13 to 15)
An online transfer after each class would do.

4) I also accept students preparing for any school exam such as IGCSE Additional Mathematics or IGCSE Extended Math or equivalent. However I do not provide materials for this as the students must come up with their own materials and I just teach.
