About Karen
I am convinced that most math students can be more effective learners because schools generally do not teach “learning how to learn” math strategies. I have presented my work at math education conferences, faculty teaching effective programs and at other colleges.

I am an experienced math educator who loves helping students develop their math abilities. I worked as a Math Support Specialist at Rochester Institute of Technology with undergraduate students. I am also a NYS Math Teacher, 7-12 with degrees in math education from Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Rochester, and many years of tutoring middle school, high school and college math students.
I specialize in teaching students strategies for how to learn math more effectively. Based on their math learning strengths, I collaborate with students to explore their math skills, conceptual understanding and how they learn mathematics. Together, we develop strategies such as: problem solving, multi representation, prior knowledge, homework and others that might apply. They become their tools for how to learn math
