I approach a subject by breaking it down into its fundamental concepts and building up from there. Often times I have found that students that are struggling to grasp a complex concept in a subject have not learned a much simpler but crucial piece of information required to understand the concept they were initially struggling with. Once they understand the fundamentals, the more complex concepts become easier to grasp as students will now be equipped with the right tools to do so. This approach requires a lot of patience from both the tutor and the student; however, I stick to it because it has shown to be very effective for students in the past.
