About Toky
I am a student who has come from an underrepresented background and successfully gained a place at the University of Oxford. I want to use my experience to help students develop their academic confidence and realise their own potential. I am passionate about Mathematics and aim not only to help students improve their grades, but also to develop a genuine understanding and appreciation of the subjects they study. I believe that with the right encouragement, students can become more confident in tackling challenging problems and enjoy their academic work.

I am an undergraduate student at the University of Oxford studying Materials Science. I am particularly strong in Mathematics having achieved A* A* A* A in Maths, Further Maths, Physics and French at A level. My lessons are aimed at students taking Maths, Further Maths or physics at A level.
My approach to teaching is understanding above all else, via proofs and worked examples and then building upon these foundations to enable the student to apply their knowledge to a variety of questions that they may encounter in an exam environment.
A typical lesson lasts around 1 hour:
5–10 minutes: Recap previous material and identify any areas of difficulty.
15–20 minutes: Introduce and explain a new concept, using examples and demonstrations where appropriate.
20–25 minutes: Tackle questions together, gradually encouraging the student to take the lead.
5–10 minutes: Independent question practice, followed by a review of the lesson and identification of areas to work on next.
