About Charlie

Learning doesn’t have to be hard — sometimes it just needs the right explanation.

I’ve always loved learning, and helping students feel more confident (and maybe even enjoy it!) is what motivates me to teach. English and Science were my favorite subjects at school, and I went on to study biomedical science and chiropractic science at university.

I’m naturally curious, always have a book in my hand, and love helping students understand ideas in a way that actually makes sense to them. I believe that once students discover their learning style, school can feel much clearer and far less overwhelming.

I’m funny, cheeky, very friendly, and extremely patient. I aim to create a relaxed, supportive space where students feel comfortable asking questions and giving things a go.

My goal is for students to leave lessons feeling clear on what they’re learning, confident about what to do next, and proud of the effort they’re putting into school.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach
My teaching style focuses on clear explanations, strong foundations, and building confidence. I adapt each lesson to the student’s level and learning style, making sure concepts are fully understood before moving on.

For Science, I break down complex ideas into simple, logical steps and relate them to real-world examples to improve understanding and retention.

For English, I help students develop reading comprehension, writing structure, grammar, and analytical skills, while encouraging clear and confident expression.

I encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and explain ideas in their own words, which helps reinforce learning and build independence.

Lesson Structure & Length
Lessons typically run for 60 minutes and may include:
- Reviewing recent schoolwork or homework
- Explaining current topics from class
- Guided practice and skill-building exercises
- Exam and assessment preparation where appropriate
Lesson length can be adjusted for younger students if needed.

Qualifications
I hold two university degrees, including a Master’s degree in a health science discipline. This background has given me:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with complex academic material
- Effective study, revision, and exam strategies

Although I do not have formal tutoring experience, my academic training allows me to support high school students with both subject content and essential study skills.
